Helpful tips for Holiday tech shopping!

Tis the season to get shopping! Fa la la la la la la la la! I love the holiday season, but it can be stressful. Tech items are on everyone's Holiday wish lists and can be some of the most difficult gifts to purchase. I have put together a list of 5 tips to help you shop for the tech savvy loved ones on your holiday list.

Tip #1 Do your research!
Know exactly what you are looking for and all the specs. For example, if you are buying an iPod, you need to know what model iPod (touch, nano or shuffle). You would also need to know what size (8 GB or higher). If you aren't sure, ask around. Search the web for information on the item. There are many tech blogs online and are a great source of information.

Tip #2 Price Match
I cannot tell you how many times I have purchased an item only to find it cheaper at another store! Purchase the Sunday paper with all of the advertisements and browse all of them. Visit your local stores online advertisements.

Tip #3 Purchase the warranty
Most tech items have an optional warranty that can be purchased with it. I advise you to purchase the warranty. This way if the items breaks or malfunctions, you are covered. Most items come with a manufacturers warranty, but this is usually a general warranty with a lot of "catches". The extended warranties tend to give the buyer better protection. If you cannot afford the extended warranty, study the manufacturers warranty.

Tip #4 Don't be afraid to ask for help
Most stores have associates that are specifically trained in the tech department. These associates know pretty much everything and anything there is to know about the gadget(s) you are looking for. Do not be afraid to ask for help and if you do not understand the language, ask them to tell you in lay-mans terms. If you have a friend or family member that is a "techie" ask them to come along with you!

Tip #5 Gift Cards are always an option
If you really are unsure, purchase a gift card! Majority of stores offer gift cards and this is an excellent way to still get that special person on your holiday shopping list that special gift. If you want your gift to be more personal, leave a note along with your gift card.

The Holiday season is meant to be fun and that is the most important point to remember. Do not stress out trying to find the perfect gift. Take your time and do your research and you will find the best gift.

❄Holiday Gift Guide 2010❄ Anybook Reader Review

When I was offered the chance to review the Anybook Reader, I jumped at the opportunity. This little device rocks! It is a pen that allows you to record any book in your own voice and when your child activates it (by pressing it against the sticker), it will read the book to them in your voice! How does it work? You pick a book, apply the stickers, activate the stickers, record that page and repeat. When you child puts the Anybook Reader onto the sticker, it automatically reads the page that you recorded. Brilliant!

I received the 60- hour edition Anybook reader. The Anybook reader requires 2 AAA batteries (not included). The directions are incredibly easy to understand (which is a major plus) and the device is easy to use. The Anybook reader includes special stickers which contain pre-recorded sounds (these cannot be replaced or deleted). One thing I love about the Anybook reader is that you can delete recordings and reuse the stickers (except the pre-recorded stickers) to create new recordings. The Anybook reader also contains an "auto power off" feature which is great because my 3 year old son is not the best when it comes to remembering to turn his toys off.

I gave the Anybook reader to my 3 year old son and he loves it. He is constantly asking me to read books to him and I love to read to him, but we also have a 1 year old daughter than needs my attention too. So when this happens, I get the Anybook reader out and I can read to him and take care of my daughter at the same time.

2. Apply Vaseline to hands and cover with gloves or apply Vaseline to feet and cover with socks. Leave on for an hour, rinse off, and your dry hands and feet will be as soft as a baby's bottom.
   
3. Apply Vaseline to lips to help heal dry, cracked or chapped lips.
   
4. Vaseline is great for treating diaper rash! Apply a small, thin coat to the irritate area, let sit for a while, remove with a warm wash cloth.
   
5. Vaseline helps heal cuts and scrapes because the jelly creates a barrier that keeps air, water and bacteria out of open wounds.
   
6. Vaseline is an excellent make-up remover. Just apply to the areas with make-up and gently wipe with a tissue, cotton, or warm washcloth.
   
7. Apply Vaseline to your split ends and it seals them.
   
8. Apply Vaseline to boots and purses to leave them looking incredibly shiny!
   
9. Before using your perfume or cologne, apply Vaseline and then put perfume and cologne on top to have your scent last longer.
   
10. Vaseline is an excellent moisturizer for the skin. Apply it to dry, irritated, or just shaven skin to seal in moisture.
